It’s ironic at times how the world deceives us; sometimes the devil’s lies are really just twisted truths.

We all know we’re in need of something in some shape or form; it’s what we’re in need of that can get twisted. In Steve's case, he was searching for this need in enlightenment–self discovery, self help, self motivation. The more he saught for peace in himself, he found that the peace he was looking for existed all along, but had nothing to do with him. After years of searching inside himself, he found an even greater peace than imagined in Jesus. Just as Satan wants to use our deepest need against us, Jesus triumphs by using our false pursuits as a way to reach us.

"...that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of him, having the eyes of your hearts enlightened, that you may know what is the hope to which he has called you, what are the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints..." Ephesians 1:17-18
