Just the Beginning

Originally launched in 2013, we’ve always had big dreams and visions for the Pursuit Collective. We were blessed to have had several amazing leaders in the beginning help to see this project off the ground but after a few short years of publishing and managing content, many leaders transitioned, the momentum faded, and sadly, the project was laid to rest.

Believing we were so close to something incredible, we kept the dream alive. We waited patiently for years praying the Lord would send the right leadership and in 2019 we felt the time was right to start digging up the dirt to uncover the remains of what was buried several years before. We knew we had stories worthy of telling through every avenue possible and the goal was to do so through The Pursuit Collective. We began working on a rebrand and new website, and while we weren’t sure who was going to pick up where we had left off, we had the “Field of Dreams” mindset so we began to build it, trusting the right person would come.

Fast forward a few months to March of 2020, we get an email from Grace Thuen–a recent college graduate with a passion for missions and a degree in International Journalism. She had no idea about this project and little experience leading anything at this level, but after a few conversations and casting the vision, she was all in and we trusted God in the rest. Joining our Ride Nature team as the Senior Editor for The Pursuit Collective, Grace hit the ground running. In less than two years since Grace relocated her life to Florida, we’ve launched a new website, began to build a new team of contributors, produced an ongoing podcast, and organized, edited, and published two printed volumes of our Pursuit Collective annual journal. Grace, we could never have done this without you and because of your investment, a new foundation for The Pursuit Collective has been laid and this is just the beginning.

As Paul wrote to the Corinthians, “I planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but God has made it grow…"

The work that we are leading requires some to plant seeds, others to water, but thankfully the growth is up to the Lord. It has been evident that God is using The Pursuit Collective for His glory and we are excited to see how He will allow it to continue to grow from this point forward. Grace, you have served this ministry and vision far beyond our hopes and goals. You have carried the torch well and so it is with heavy hearts that we prepare to bid you farewell.

We ask that those of you reading this join us in the prayer for the next torch-bearer that will come after Grace. As we look to the future with the hope of continuing to grow our team and impact our community through the resources we’re producing, we are seeking a new staff member to join our team as the Senior Editor for The Pursuit Collective. If this opportunity resonates with you or someone you know, we would love to have you reach out for us to share more.

No doubt there are endless pursuits of countless things, but praise God that He has set us free to trade in those pursuits for one that leads to hope and life. Grace, thank you for allowing us all to become a part of The Pursuit Collective.
