Mazatlán quickly became more than a destination; it became one of the most meaningful trips our California team has experienced. From the very beginning, it was clear that God was moving in rich and intentional ways, both within our own hearts and in the lives of the people we had the privilege of walking alongside. What unfolded over the week was a reminder that when we step out in faith, God meets us there and does far more than we could plan or expect. God met us in the streets, at the skateparks, and in conversations with skateboarders who had been carrying heavy stories for far too long. We prayed with them, encouraged them, and reminded them that no matter how dark the road has been, God is faithful and always near.
Again and again, God opened doors for conversation, prayer, and genuine connection, guiding each step along the way. Our crew partnered with two local skate ministries to support their annual contest, Clásico Havidena. More than fifty skaters competed, including a rad crew of local girls who turned out to be absolute rippers.
As the sun set and the awards were handed out, the entire skatepark gathered to hear Julio share a powerful message about the true gift of Christmas: our Savior, Jesus. pointing everyone back to the true gift of Christmas: Jesus. It was a moment that captured the heart of why we do what we do. And a reminder of how easily the Lord can use a skateboard to build bridges and open hearts.
Thanks to the generosity of all of you who believe in and support our mission, we were able to give away skateboards, shoes, hats, shirts, and more throughout the week. Tangible expressions of love that are meant to point back to the greatest gift of all. On most trips like this, we arrived thinking about what we could give and left realizing how much we had received. Renewed hearts, a deeper fire for the Gospel, and a sense that Mazatlán isn’t just a place we visit, it’s family. We’re grateful for every prayer, every dollar, and every person who helped make this trip possible. And we’re already looking ahead to the next return.
